Carol Lee Bowlby, 97, of Logan, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Fairfield Medical Center, Lancaster. He was born on October 16, 1926, in Logan, the son of the late Charles E. and Thelma “Bess” (Hood) Bowlby. He was married for 71 plus years to Mary Jane (Powell) Bowlby who survives.
Carol served in the US Navy during WWII. He worked for Godman Shoe Company, Carborundum, General Electric, and had his own trucking company, Bowlby’s Hauling. He was a member of Hocking Hills Church. Carol will be remembered as a tireless, hard worker. He enjoyed gardening, NASCAR, and working in his garage. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
Carol is survived by his wife; daughter, Jane Bowlby of Logan; son, Jerry (Carla) Bowlby of Logan; grandchildren, Jerry (Christina) Bowlby, Jennifer Bowlby, Carrie (Lea Carrigan) Bowlby, Jessica (Wesley) Allen, and Charles (Autumn) Bowlby; great grandchildren, Caitlyn (Hunter) Johnson and Kyla Bowlby; brother, Wayne (Anita) Bowlby of Logan; and several nieces and nephews.
Carol was preceded in death by his parents; son, Mickey Lee Bowlby; brothers, Robert Bowlby and Earl Bowlby; and sister, Betty Mundy.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at the Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan, with Rev. Roland Mitchel and Rev. Charlene Mitchell officiating. Interment will be New Fairview Memorial Gardens, Rockbridge with military honors by the Hocking County Honor Guard. Family and friends may visit Wednesday from 5 to 8 pm at the funeral home and 1 hour prior to the service on Thursday.
