Carole Jean Gearing

Carole Jean (Schull) Gearing, age 85, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 26, 2023, at approximately 12:51 pm at Four Winds Nursing Home following an extensive battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Carole was married to Butch Gearing, the love of her life, for 42 years, who precedes her in death.  She was also preceded in death by her parents, Roy Eugene Schull and Emma Lucille (Clark) Donaldson; stepfather, Lawrence Donaldson; her sisters, Helen (Bob) Harper and Pose (Henry) Bruce; granddaughters, Carole Marie and Kerry Lee; grandson, Gabriel and Great grandson, Zachary Michael.

She leaves behind 5 daughters; Misty (Donnie) Sheets, Penny (David) Waller, Catherine Hughes, Donna (John) Dower and Rayma (Randy) Jensen; ten grandchildren, Nicky, Jayson, Mandy, Josh, Jeremiah, Anna, Jedidiah, Clayton, Kendall and Maddox; seventeen great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; brother, Michael (Candi) Schull; several nieces and nephews and her close friend and caretaker, Vivian Brekeen.

Carole was the matriarch of her family.  She was a very strong-willed lady who would help anyone in need.  Everyone came to her for advice on life.  She was very thoughtful, caring and loving, but would also tell you if she thought you were wrong.  She would tell her daughters, “I love you, but I don’t have to like you” when she didn’t agree with what they were doing.  Her hobbies include tending to flowers, cooking and baking.

Carole devoted her life to her family, friends, animals and most importantly, God.  She was the best mom ever and will be missed by all.

A funeral service will be held 6:30 p.m., Thursday, November 30, 2023, in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Pastor Bill Mason officiating.  Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until the time of the service.
