Carolyn Sue Hall

Carolyn Sue Hall, 81, of Wellington, Ohio, formerly of McArthur, passed away on Monday, July 8, 2024.  Carolyn was born on October 24, 1942, in Prestonsburg, Kentucky, to the late Cleo and Sabra (Amburgy) Akers.  She was the widow of the late Clyde Hall.

Carolyn earned her bachelor's degree from Union College in Kentucky.  After graduating Carolyn began her teaching career in Indiana.  After marrying Clyde, Carolyn briefly lived in Port Clinton, Ohio and Prestonsburg, Kentucky before finally settling in McArthur, Ohio where she lived until the death of her husband Clyde.  Carolyn taught for many years at the Vinton County High School and was a substitute teacher for several more years after she retired.  Clyde and Carolyn could always be found on the bleachers cheering on the various boys and girls sporting teams at the Vinton County High School.

During her retirement, she enjoyed playing golf with her husband and granddaughter.  She was also a member of the McArthur United Methodist Church.

Carolyn is survived by her son Charles Steven (Nancy) Hall of Wellington and granddaughter, Carol Stephanie Hall of Wellington.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and brother, Charles Earl Akers.

Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, OH, 45651 with Rev. Dr. Randy Hardman officiating. Interment will follow in Elk Cemetery, McArthur.  Family and friends may visit one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

Carolyn loved animals and always had a dog at her side, even when it meant sneaking one into the house when she was a kid.  In lieu of flowers, consider donating to a local animal shelter.
