In Loving Memory of Catherine Su Rigney (nee Shaw)

Catherine Su Rigney, a vibrant soul with an unyielding love for life, passed away on December 18, 2023, at the age of 62, leaving behind a legacy of joy, laughter, and cherished memories. Born on January 2, 1961, to the parents of Darius and Ruth Shaw (Kuhn) in Lancaster, Ohio, Catherine's zest for life was evident in her passions and the love she shared with her family.

Catherine dedicated her life to the care and education of others, leaving an indelible mark in the field of nursing. Graduating from Nelsonville-York High School in 1979, she continued her education at Hocking College, where she honed her passion for nursing and became a mentor to aspiring nurses throughout her career.

Her life was a symphony of music, dance, camping, and a deep connection with nature. Catherine found solace and delight in the melodies of music, the freedom of dancing, and the tranquility of nature's embrace during her camping adventures. Her love for these simple pleasures was infectious, bringing joy to those around her.

Throughout her life, Catherine was not only devoted to the outdoors but also to her family. She was a beloved wife to Mike Rigney since 2012 and a light to her children: Chris Holtel (Carolyn), Shasta Holtel-Brown (Tabeau Williams), Alex Holtel (Kelly), and Jalynn Jordan (Steven). Catherine was also a cherished grandmother to Skye, Hailey, Dakota, Hunter, Jazmynn, Cathrynn, Chloe, Ammya, Charlie, Carson, Camryn, Lily, and a great-grandmother to Paizilynn.

Her laughter, love, and warmth will forever be treasured by her extended family and friends who were touched by her kind spirit and contagious enthusiasm for life.

A celebration of Catherine's life will be held at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette Street, Nelsonville, Ohio 45764, where friends and family can gather to honor her memory. A graveside service will immediately follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, 15550 Elm Rock Road, Nelsonville, Ohio 45764.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that you plant a tree in Catherine's Memory, reflecting Catherine's love for nature, to honor her beautiful spirit and passions.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered support, love, and comfort during this difficult time.
