Charles Henry Young

Charles Henry Young, 85, of McArthur, passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at his residence.  He was Born August 7, 1932 in Lawrence County, Ohio, son of the late Isaac Franklin and Goldie Marie Brumfield Young.  Charlie was married for 62 years to Gayle Rose Young, who survives.

He retired after 36 years of service from Columbia Gas and was a Korean Conflict Army Veteran.  Charlie was a member of the McArthur United Methodist Church, Delta Lodge #207 F&AM in McArthur, McArthur VFW Post #5299, SERENO Chapter #128 OES in McArthur and the Vinton County Historical Society.

Charlie is survived by his wife, along with a son, Jeffrey Alan Young of Hamden; daughter, Judith Ann Bishop of McArthur; granddaughter, Lauren Elizabeth (James) Bishop McCune of Logan and a sister, Juanita (Bill) Largent of Chillicothe.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, David Keith Young; brother, Burkle Young and son-in-law, Dennis Bishop.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Monday, April 23, 2018 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Rev. Dr. Randy Hardman officiating.  Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur, with military graveside services being conducted by the McArthur VFW Post #5299.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, from 6-8 p.m., where a masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. and on Monday, one hour prior to the services.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of Charles Young, to the Vinton County Historical Society, 207 S. Sugar St., McArthur, Ohio 45651.
