Christina “Fritzi” Higgins, age 96, of McConnelsville, formerly of Glouster, passed away Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Marietta Memorial Hospital, Marietta. She was born March 22, 1921 in Athens County, daughter of the late John and Melvina Gillotte Sauser. She was the widow of the late Malcolm W. Higgins, who passed away December 24, 1994.
She owned and operated, with her husband Malcolm, the Burr Oak Restaurant in Glouster for many years. She was a member of the Jacksonville United Methodist Church, Jacksonville Senior Citizens and Glouster Senior Citizens.
She is survived by a son, William Clyde (Gwen) Tippie Sr. of Wilmore, Kentucky; grandsons who she raised in her home, Clyde Tippie II and John Allen (Mimi Shuttleworth) Tippie both of Glouster and grandson, Donald Tippie of Heath; great grandchildren, Jason and Kaitlin Tippie, Jacob and Brenna Tippie and Jessica, DJ and Branson Tippie; great-great grandchildren, Devon and Lilly; brother, George (MaryBell) Edinger of Bishop, Georgia; cousin, Viola Holobaugh of Columbus and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Malcolm; sisters, June Erdy and Inez Campbell and uncle Clyde and Dorothy Gillotte.
A graveside service will be held Friday, October 6, 2017 at 12:30 PM at Maplewood Cemetery, Glouster with Pastor Curtis Hallstrom officiating. Friends may call from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Cardaras Funeral Home, 30 Main St., Glouster.
