Christine Newsome, 84, of McArthur, passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at Maple Hills Nursing Home in McArthur. She was born November 8, 1934 in Pike County, Kentucky, daughter of the late Jesse and Pansy Anderson Coleman. Christine was married for 67 years to Johnny Newsome, who survives.
She was a devoted and loving wife and mother and was a member of Maggie Home Church in Dundas. Christine was a former daycare provider in Clay County, Florida.
Christine is survived by her sons, Michael (Delana) Newsome of McArthur, Garry (Debra) Newsome of Cardington, Ohio, Jesse (Kathryn) Newsome of Ellijay, Georgia and Donnie (Nanette) Newsome of Galion, Ohio; daughters, Deborah (Steve) Harper of Edison, Ohio and Loretta (Mike) Castor of Keystone Heights, Florida; twelve grandchildren; several great grandchildren; 12 brothers and sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 6 siblings.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Monday, September 9, 2019 at Maggie Home Church in Dundas with Elder Greg Sowers, Elder Johnny Thornsberry, Elder Harrison Runyon and Elder Donald Mullins officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Vinton County. Friend may call at the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, on Sunday, from 2-4 p.m. and on Monday, at Maggie Home Church in Dundas, from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
