Clyde Wesley Pinney, age 87 went to be with our Lord on August 23, 2017. He was a resident of the Springfield Masonic Community in Springfield, Ohio. Clyde is survived by his brother Glen Pinney (Linda) of Waverly, Ohio; sister Diana Bohner of Washington; daughter, Carolyn (James) Brannan of Brentwood, California; Gary (Dory) Pinney of Springfield, Ohio; and Randy (Linda) Pinney of Texas City, Texas; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a magnitude of friends.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elnora Winifred (Ross) Pinney (2015); daughter, Sharon (1956); father and mother, Clement and Vona (Moore) Pinney; sister, Edith Plummer Smith, and many other family members and friends.
Clyde was born on February 21, 1930 to parents Clement and Vona Pinney. He grew up in Vinton County Ohio, near Lake Hope, where he attended Hope School and graduated from Zaleski High School; there he met his future wife, Elnora Ross. They were married for 68 years before her death. They lived in Dayton, Ohio for many years where Clyde was an operating engineer for over 40 years. In 1973, he became a member of the John Cissna Masonic Lodge. Upon retirement, he and Elnora moved back to Lake Hope, Ohio, where it all began. There he was a Brown Township Trustee for many years, served as President of the MRDD board, was active with Rails and Trails, and served as the Historian for Hope School, the one-room school house he attended as a child. Clyde was a Christian, a loving, hardworking husband and father, and was respected and loved by his many friends and family.
The family would like to thank his long-time friends of McArthur and Zaleski, Ohio; his new friends of Springfield; the entire staff at the Springfield Masonic Community for their loving care; Chaplain Vincent for his spiritual and emotional support; and Community Mercy Hospice of Springfield. Thank you to Richards, Raff and Dunbar Memorial Home in Springfield and Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home in McArthur, Ohio for funeral arrangements, and a special thank you to Orbie Estep for his services.
The funeral is scheduled for
Tuesday
at Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home in McArthur, Ohio. Visitation will be from
12 until 2 PM
. followed by the service. He will be laid to rest at Keeton Cemetery at Lake Hope, Ohio directly after the service.
