Darrell Richard Koon

Darrell Richard Koon, 57, of Nelsonville, passed away Wednesday January 23, 2019 at Ohio Health O’Bleness Hospital in Athens.  He was born January 13, 1962 in Columbus, Ohio, son of the late Richard Gene and Wilma Louise Cossin Koon.

He worked as a Laborer in life, mainly in construction, and was a real handyman.  He was greatly loved and will be sadly missed.

Darrell is survived by his sons, Richard Louis (Bekah) Koon of Chillicothe, Matthew Wayne Koon of Chillicothe and Shawn Michael Detwiler of Nelsonville; daughter, Amanda Louise Koon of Des Moines, Iowa; step-children, Traci (Peter) Kachenko of Athens and James Adam (Holly) Brown of Nelsonville; twelve grandchildren; one brother; nieces and nephews; and former wife, Tina O’Nail Wachenschwanz of Doanville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandchild, Arlo Peter Kachenko and sister, Regina Koon.

Darrell’s wishes were to be cremated and no services will be held at this time.  Arrangements are by the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville.
