David Michael Hummel

David Michael Hummel, 67, of Athens, passed away Saturday August 18, 2018 at his residence.  He was born December 22, 1950 in Athens, Ohio, son of the late Russell E. and Laura Ogg Hummel.  He was married to Melissa Lynn Sanborn Hummell who survives.

He was a Navy Veteran, and served during the Vietnam War.  He was an over-the-road  Truck Driver, and was a member of Bread of Life Church in Jacksonville.  David was greatly loved by his family and will be sadly missed.

Along with his wife, he is survived by son, Jordan Hummel of Athens; daughters, Belva Hummel of New Marshfield and Lily Hummel of Athens; three grandchildren including special granddaughter of the home, Joanna Hummel; brothers, Allyn (Terri) Hummel of Michigan and Dennis (Marlene) Hummel of Columbus; nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Eric Gallagher.

David’s wishes were to be cremated and no services will be held at this time.  Arrangements are by Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, Nelsonville.
