Denver "Gene" Eugene Thacker

Denver Eugene Thacker, 80, of McArthur, passed away Saturday, October 20, 2018, surrounded by his loving family at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.  He was born October 15, 1938 in Wilkesville, Ohio, son of the late Willard and Rosella Gee Thacker.  Gene was married to the late Ruby Gambill Thacker, she was the love of his life.

He retired from Austin Powder Company as an Engineer and was in the Army National Guard.  Gene was an avid woodworker and mushroom hunter who enjoyed spending quality time with his family and friends.  He was a friend to many and will be missed by all.

Gene is survived by his daughter, Angela (Jeff) Oney of McArthur; grandchildren, Brittany Craig, Courtney Roberts and Jeremy Denney; great grandchildren, Atreyu Roberts, Auryn Hendrix and one great grandson on the way, Cooper Eugene Hall; brothers, Leonard Perkins of McArthur and Rick (Lila) Thacker of Wellston and a sister, Carolyn (Chuck) Boyer of Hamden.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Nick Strawser and sister-in-law, Helen Perkins.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Thursday, October 25, 2018 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Rev. Jerry Griffith Jr. officiating.  Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 5-8 p.m.
