Donald "Butch" Dale Gearing

Donald Dale “Butch” Gearing, 65, of Londonderry, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe, with his loving wife by his side.  He was born March 18, 1952 in McArthur, son of the late John Soloman and Ella Mae Cassidy Gearing.  Butch was married for 42 years to Carole Schull Gearing, who survives.

Butch made his living driving truck and performed in a country western band for many years.  Later he devoted his singing to God.  He was very steadfast in his faith and said “I just want to be close to The Lord.”  Butch was known as an avid hunter and fisherman.  He loved spending time outdoors.  Other hobbies included working on lawn mowers and other small engines, spending time with family, friends and his dogs.  Butch was a carefree person, always able to see the best in every situation.  He kept his sense of humor, clear up to the end.  Butch will always be remembered as the greatest husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who ever lived.

Butch is survived by his daughters, Misty (Donald) Sheets of Londonderry, Penny (David) Waller of Biloxi, Mississippi, Catherine Hughes of Dayton, Donna (John Atwood) Dower of Chillicothe and Rayma (Randy) Jensen of Londonderry; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; sisters, Juanita Jenkins, Frances Nixon and Brenda (Leslie) Graves and his best friend, Rodger Glandon.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandchildren, Carole Marie and Gabriel and sister, Dorothy Young.

A funeral service will be held 6:30 p.m., Friday, December 1, 2017 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Rev. Jim Taylor officiating.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, from 5 p.m. until the time of the service.
