Donald Edward Jonas

Donald Edward Jonas, 79, formerly of Glouster, passed away Friday, January 19, 2018 at Chillicothe VA Medical Center, Chillicothe.  He was born November 26, 1938, son of Edison A. and Mary E. Bumgardner Jonas.

Don retired from the United States Army after 22 years of service. He had three tours of duty in Vietnam and was highly decorated. He also retired from Hocking Correctional Institute. He was a life member of the Jacksonville VFW and was an avid gun collector who enjoyed horses.

He is survived by his brother, Mike (Margie) Jonas of Mainesville; sister Diane (Mark) McGuire of Nelsonville as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville with Pastor David Shoemaker officiating. Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville where a military graveside service will be conducted. Friends may call Wednesday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home.
