Donald Emerson Puckett, 79, of Ray, passed away Friday, February 21, 2020, at his residence. He was born December 25, 1940, in Ray, Ohio, son of the late Emerson and Angeline Shepard Puckett. Don was married for 60 years to Amy Stewart Puckett, who survives.
He has been in the timber business all his life, having owned and operated Don Puckett Logging and Lumber, working close with Mead Corporation for many years producing pulpwood and chips. Don enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time at Santee Cooper in South Carolina trying to land a big one. He loved his purple martins and has been called a martin hog. But what he loved most of all, was spending time with his family. Don was a member of the McArthur Eagles AERIE #2279.
Along with his wife Amy, Don is survived by his sons, Timothy (Jackie) Puckett of Ray and Jeffrey (Missy) Puckett of Londonderry; daughters, Linda (Mark) Ault of Chillicothe, Barbara Sergent of Londonderry and Nancy Puckett of Londonderry; grandchildren, Aaron, Rebecca, Michaela, Casey, Corey, Adam, Michelle and Brad; great grandchildren, Fisher, Rhett, Miles, Laney, Gretchen and Harry; brother, Samuel Puckett of Chillicothe; sisters, Mary Ann Ragland of Miamisburg, Lois Peoples of Dundas and Joyce Huff of Chillicothe and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Jamie Sergent; son-in-law, James Sergent and brothers, Richard, Arnold and William Puckett.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 26, 2020, in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Rev. Jim Taylor officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Ray. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 5-8 p.m. where an Eagles service will be held at 6 p.m.
