Doris Ann Mcferren

Doris Ann McFerren, 69, of Ray, passed away Saturday, October 2, 2021, at her residence.  She was born June 26, 1952, in Columbus, Ohio, daughter of the late Robert and Jane Blessing Henthorn.  Doris was married for 50 years to Leonard Leroy McFerren, who survives.

Doris retired after 32 years as a bus driver for Vinton County Schools.  She was a dedicated driver to her students and fellow employees and was the former president of Oapse-Afscme.  Doris was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved going to the casino, diet Pepsi and cash word.

She is survived by her son, Michael Shane (Stephanie) McFerren of Frankfort; daughter, Tischa Josephine (Gerald) Harper of Ray; grandchildren, Darian (Adam) Bennett, Tyler (Bailey Countryman) McFerren, Taylor (Brooklyn Morris) McFerren, Trista McFerren, McKenzie McFerren, Adriana McFerren, Alexander McFerren and Madelyn McFerren and a great granddaughter, Aubree Stephenson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert “Bob” Henthorn and Robin Lee Henthorn.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, October 7, 2021, in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Pastor Danny Minton officiating.  Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
