Edna “Helen” Smith, 91, of Logan, passed away Sunday, October 1, 2017 at the Carlin House in Logan. She was born March 9, 1926 in Childress, Texas, daughter of the late Lloyd and Emma Mitchell Fry. Helen was the widow of the late Charles E. Smith.
She and her husband owned and operated the VIP Motel in New Lexington.
Helen is survived by her son, Chuck Smith of Logan; daughters, Brenda Hayes of Fairfield, Ohio and Sheryl Nutter of Lancaster; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren and a sister, Carol Allen of Zanesville.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Jo Arnold and daughter-in-law, Marty Smith.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m., Friday, October 6, 2017 at the Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan, with Rev. Clarence Thompson officiating. Interment will be in New Straitsville Cemetery, New Straitsville. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, from 5-8 p.m. and on Friday, one hour prior to the services.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of Edna “Helen” Smith to the charity of your choice.
