Edward L. Darnell, 87, of Logan, passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Columbus. He was born January 26, 1935, in Hocking County, the son of the late Raymond and Violet (Coakley) Darnell. Ed was married for 56 years to the late Helen (Helber) Darnell.
Ed retired from Logan Clay Products with 46 years of service. He served in the Ohio Army National Guard. He was a member of the Hocking Hills United Methodist Church, the Mingo Lodge #171 F.&A.M., the Venus Chapter #76 O.E.S., and a former member of the Marion Grange. Ed was also involved with the Boy Scouts and enjoyed volunteering with the food bank.
Ed is survived by his son, Daniel (Maria) Darnell of McAllen, Texas; daughter, Jenny (Jim) Ditty of Logan; grandchildren, James (Sarah) Ditty, Paul (Whitney) Ditty, and Peter (Julie) Ditty; 8 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Sue Darnell of Logan and Pam (Gary) McNichols of South Bloomingville; and brother-in-law, Don Taylor of Lancaster.
In addition to his wife and parents, Ed was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Darnell.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, August 16, 2022, in the Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Logan. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 5 to 8 PM with a Masonic Service held at 7:00 PM.
