Ethel C. Short, 81, of McArthur, passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at Embassy of Logan. Ethel was born on February 17, 1943, in McArthur, Ohio, the daughter of the late Ernest and Lucille (Fee) Reynolds. She was the beloved wife of 63 years to Charles Short, who survives.
Ethel was a member of the McArthur Eagles Ladies Auxiliary #2279 and McArthur VFW Post #5299 Ladies Auxiliary. She worked at Bank One in Columbus for 19 years, before moving back home to McArthur. Ethel loved going to the senior center, especially leading crafts there.
Ethel is survived by her husband; daughters, Debbie Kocab of Van Wert and Tamara Sue (Aaron) Wilson of Logan; grandchildren, Jessica (Chris) Heath of Van Wert, Chelsea (Colin Nichols) Ball of Obetz, Amanda Kocab of Van Wert, and Wesley (Annmarie) Ball of Lancaster; great-grandchildren, Carter and Gavin Heath, Aiden Kincaid, Colton and Autumn Hunter, Alexander and Grant Nichols, and Ethel Ball; sister, Evelyn Steinberg of Gibson City, Illinois; brother-in-law, Bob Tedrick; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Marvin Reynolds, John Reynolds, Gene Reynolds, David Reynolds, Ed Reynolds, and Tom Reynolds; and sister, Vera Tedrick.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St, McArthur, with Rev. Jim Taylor officiating. Interment will be in Bell Cemetery, Vinton County. Family and friends may visit from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home with a service by the McArthur Eagles Ladies Auxiliary at 12:30 p.m. and a VFW Ladies Auxiliary service at 12:45 p.m.
