Gary L. Hurst, 78, of Logan, passed away Thursday, April 15, 2021, at OhioHealth O’Bleness Hospital in Athens. He was born October 16, 1942, in Hocking County, son of the late George Hurst and Alma Givens Hurst Stickdorn. Gary was married to Carolyn S. Staley Hurst, who survives.
He retired from General Electric in Logan and was a member of Cornerstone United Pentecostal Church in Nelsonville.
Gary is survived by his son, Dick L. (Mona) Hurst of Logan, daughter, Amy J. (Matt) Speckman of Logan, grandchildren, Brent (Stephanie) Hurst, Ashley (Mitch) Chapman, Sarah (Adam) Holcomb and Joel Speckman; several great grandchildren; brother, Clark (Patty) Hurst of Corning and sisters, Maxine Ward of Lancaster, and Becky (Ransom) Staley of Logan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Teddy Hurst and sisters, Donna Edwards, and Wanda Brown.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Monday, April 19, 2021, in the Cornerstone United Pentecostal Church, 785 Jackson St., Nelsonville, with Rev. Jim Phillips officiating. Interment will be in New Fairview Memorial Gardens, Rockbridge. Friends may call at the Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan, on Sunday, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and on Monday, at the Cornerstone United Pentecostal Church in Nelsonville from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
