George Scarberry, 85, of McArthur, passed away Thursday April 12, 2018 at his residence. He was born September 25, 1932 in Pikeville, Kentucky, son of the late Jay and Polly Bentley Scarberry. He was married to Clara A. Smathers Scarberry, who survives, for 58 years.
He was a retired Sawmiller, and worked for Glandon Lumber Company and Crownover Lumber Company. He was greatly loved by his family and will be sadly missed.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Gregory (Cathy) Scarberry of McArthur; daughters, Carol (David) Whaley, Charlene (Mike) Gilliland, Lois Storms, and Kimberly Vorhees all of McArthur; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and brother, Eugene (Gidget) Scarberry of New York.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
Graveside funeral services and interment will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, April 16, 2018 at Elk Cemetery, McArthur. Rev. Tim Bentley officiating. Friends may call Monday, from 1-3 p.m. at Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur.
