Gerald E. Carpenter

Gerald E. Carpenter, 76, of McArthur, passed away Saturday, April 22, 2017 at his residence.  He was born July 1, 1940 in Vinton County, son of the late Walter and Ermel Amerine Carpenter.  Gerald was married for 35 years to Martha Marie Moyer Carpenter, who survives.

He retired in 2002 from Midwest Fabricating in Amanda, was a member of Clear Creek Valley Granger #1843 in Amanda and attended Calvary Lutheran Church in Lancaster.  Gerald was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, riding his 4 wheeler, mushroom hunting, gardening, his dogs and also watching westerns.

In addition to his wife, Gerald is survived by his sons, Gary (Sally) Carpenter of Hocking County and Steve Carpenter of Amanda; daughter, Lisa Carpenter of McArthur; grandchildren, Daniel, Holly and Cory; great grandchild, Peyton; brother, Melvin (JoAnn) Carpenter of South Bloomingville; sister, Viola Beatty of Lancaster and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Friday, April 28, 2017 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Rev. Diana Gugel officiating.  Interment will be in Otterbein Cemetery, Vinton County.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
