Grace Virgene Powell

Grace Virgene Powell, 87, of Sugar Grove, passed away Thursday, January 10, 2019 at the Pickering House in Lancaster.  She was born December 23, 1931 in Guysville, Ohio, daughter of the late Richard and Nell Burleigh Williams.  Grace was the widow of the late Michael O. Powell.

She retired as a cashier for the Berne Union School District and enjoyed spending time with her family and gardening.

Grace is survived by her sons, Michael D. Powell of Sugar Grove and Patrick L. (Chana) Powell P.E. of Rockbridge; daughter, Julie V. Young of Rockbridge; grandchildren, Amanda (Eric) Kinney, Rachel (David) Montgomery, Patrick (Sierra) Powell II and Rebekah (Mark) Uhl; eight great grandchildren; brother, George (Marlene) Williams of Athens; sisters, Paulene (Scott) Ervin of Athens and Betty Kelley of Canal Winchester and a sister-in-law, Betty Williams of Hebron.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Eugene Williams and granddaughter, Melissa Young.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Monday, January 14, 2019 in the Cardaras Funeral Home, with Jason Hoeflich officiating.  Interment will be in New Fairview Memorial Gardens, Rockbridge.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, from 1-4 p.m.
