Harold Glenn Chaffin, 73, of Logan, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on November 6, 2019 at OSU Medical Center in Columbus, after a lengthy illness. Born in Blaine, Kentucky on October 29, 1946 to the late Ira and Helen Adams-Chaffin. Harold was a loving husband, devote father and grandfather.
An active member in the community. He was always ready to strike up a conversation and never knew a stranger. Harold worked at Bobb Chevrolet in Columbus as a lead mechanic for 25 years. He had a passion for vehicles of all kinds, anything with a motor Harold was ready and willing to fix for a friend or family member. Through the years, he developed a great love for John Deere tractors along with his 1948 Ford tractor, if you wanted to see a twinkle in Harold’s eye all you had to do was strike up a conversation about tractors. After retirement he found a new love, grandchildren. He was a proud Papaw, who was willing to drop everything in order to watch and take care of his “babies”.
As the grandchildren grew older, on many occasions you could find Harold at baseball fields, cheer or twirling competitions, and at Chieftain band events, supporting and cheering on his beloved grandchildren. Harold loved to travel, if you said let’s go, he was already in the car. One of his favorite places on Earth was spending time with his family on the beaches of the Outer Banks in North Carolina. Spending quality time with his family was always his main focus. Later in Life, Harold found faith in our Lord, Jesus Christ through prayer and deep reflection. He knew that God gave him the strength and perseverance to fight through many of his medical conditions in order to have more time with his family.
Harold is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Mary Parsley-Chaffin. Two sons, Glenn (Stephanie) Chaffin of Nelsonville; Randy (Amanda) Chaffin of Logan. Two daughters, Toni (Shawn) Maynard of Logan; Mary Hopper of Logan. Grandchildren; Jenifer (Travis), Hollie, Hanna, Jacob, Madison, Aidan, Emily, Jack, and Samantha. Great grandchildren; Azalynn and Briella. Sisters; Betty Salyers of Martha, Kentucky and Sandra (Paul) Jobe of Louisa, Kentucky. His precious dog Ellie Mae and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
