Hazel Arlene Ward, 93, of Creola, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Hamden Nursing and Rehabilitation in Hamden. She was born March 1, 1924 in Vinton County, daughter of the late Glenn and Hazel Pinney Rosser. Arlene was the widow of the late Harold Ward.
She owned and operated Wards Grocery in Creola, was a member of Harkins Chapel Church and was an avid reader who loved Bible study.
Arlene is survived by her son, Evan (Anita) Davis of Belle Center, Ohio; grandchildren, Timothy Davis of Marion, Scott (Angela) Davis of Russells Point and Brent Davis of McArthur; great grandchildren, Danielle, Nathaniel, Drake, Connor and Paxton Davis; great great grandchildren, Adeline Vermillion and Nathaniel Davis Jr.; daughter-in-law, Barbara Davis and many friends, neighbors and caregivers.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Alan Davis and sister, Sara Mae George.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, January 30, 2018 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Rev. Jerry Griffith Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Harkins Chapel Cemetery, McArthur. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 12 p.m. until the time of the service.
