Helen Kinder

Helen Kinder, 97, of McArthur, passed away Thursday, August 8, 2019 at Kimes Nursing Home in Athens.  She was born October 29, 1921 in Neon, Kentucky, daughter of the late Arlie Lewis and Addie Johnston Johnson.  Helen was married for 18 years to the late William “Bill” D. Kinder.

She retired from Wellston City Schools as an elementary school teacher.  Helen graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from Eastern Kentucky State and received her Master’s in education from the University of Wyoming.  Helen was a member of Delta Capa Gamma in Vinton and Jackson Counties and she belonged to the Ohio Retired Teachers “ORTA”, Jackson branch.

Helen is survived by her son, Doug (Connie Pollard) Kinder of McArthur and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death four half siblings.

Helen’s wishes were to be cremated and no services will be held.  Arrangements are by Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of Helen Kinder to the charity of your choice.
