James Martin Blackford Sr.

James Martin Blackford Sr., 72, of Chauncey, passed away on Monday, December 9, 2024, at the Pickering House in Lancaster. He was born on June 10, 1952, in Athens, the son of the late Kenneth Leo and Virginia B. (Pitts) Blackford.

Jim was a graduate of Alexander High School and attended Hocking College. He served in the U.S. Army.

Jim is survived by his son, James Blackford Jr. of Pomona Park, Florida; daughters, Carolyn (Joshua) LeMelle of Palatka, Florida and Laura (Lance) Quinones of Copperas Cove, Texas; longtime partner, Jane Barnhart; step children, Anita (John) Wells of Gallipolis and Joe (Larissa) Barnhart of Millfield; grandchildren, Adam Blackford, Lindsay Blackford, Seth Mathis, Izabella Blackford, Kain Quinones, Kaleb Barnhart, Kain Barnhart, Adley Wells, Cameron LeMelle, Jocelyn LeMelle, Austin Koska, and Kylee Koska; 1 great grandchild; and nephew, Michael (Tasha) Blackford.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Roger Mike Blackford.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St, Nelsonville, with Pastor Gary Alton officiating. Interment will be in New Marshfield Cemetery, New Marshfield. Family and friends may visit from 11 am to 1 pm Saturday at the funeral home.
