James Earl Basil Elkins

James Earl Basil Elkins, 22, of Vinton, Ohio, passed away on Friday, September 8, 2023.  James was born December 1, 2000, in Gallipolis, Ohio, the son of Georgia Renea Chapman (Michael Kropf) and the late James Daniel Elkins.

James was the kindest, big-hearted, hard-working man, and was a friend to all.  James was a welder for Steelial Construction and Metal in Vinton.

In addition to his mother, James is survived by his sisters, Kayla Elkins of Wilkesville and Danielle Elkins of Rio Grande; beloved nephew and best fishing buddy, Theo Richardson; grandparents, Fannie Taylor (Bill Collins) of Vinton, Brenda Wolford of Vinton, and David Elkins; aunts and uncles, Tounya Taylor of Radcliff, Curtis Taylor of Vinton, Cassandra Unroe of Vinton, and Joey Littlejohn of Virginia; many cousins who loved him; best buds, Michael, Levi, and Joseph; and his dog, Grizzly.

James was preceded in death by his father, and cousins, Anna Elkins and David Elkins Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur.  Family and friends may visit from 4 to 7 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
