James Marlin “Jim” Sergent, 69, of Londonderry, passed away unexpectedly Friday, January 12, 2018 at Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe. He was born January 7, 1949 in Ironton, Ohio, son of the late Ted and Leona Wilburn Sergent. Jim was married on May 20, 1994 to Barbara Puckett Sergent, who survives.
He was employed as an Electrical Supervisor at General Mills in Wellston, for 35 years, was a Vietnam Army Veteran and loved his family and fishing.
Jim is survived by his son, James “Adam” Sergent of Londonderry; brothers, Tony (Nancy) Sergent of Indianapolis, Don Sergent of Oak Hill, Doug (Shirley) Sergent of Virginia, Gary (Sandy) Sergent of Ironton, Keith Sergent of Oak Hill, Greg Sergent of Oak Hill and Timmy Sergent of Oak Hill; sisters, Cathleen (Bill) Juhausz of Jackson, Mary Sergent of Georgia, Vicky (Tim) Whittington of Oak Hill and Marsha (Denver) Adkins of Oak Hill; numerous nieces and nephews; brothers and sisters-in-law, Linda and Mark Ault of Chillicothe, Nancy Puckett of Londonderry, Tim and Jackie Puckett of Ray and Jeff and Missy Puckett of Londonderry and father and mother-in-law, Don and Amy Puckett of Ray.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Jamie Lynn Sergent and sister, Perlena Stiduham.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, January 18, 2018 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Rev. Jim Taylor officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Vinton County with military graveside services being conducted by the McArthur VFW Post #5299. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 5-8 p.m.
