James Ray Johnson, 70, of Logan, passed away at the Pickering House in Lancaster on Friday, January 10, 2025. James was born on December 26, 1954, in Nelsonville, the son of the late Joe and Hazel (Bownes) Johnson. James was married for 44 years to Teresa (Riggs) Johnson who survives.

James was an avid lover of horses. James also enjoyed the Scenic Hills Senior Center and especially loved to play bingo.

James is survived by his wife, Teresa; daughter, April Johnson (Virgil “Junior” Larson) of Logan; grandchildren, Adrian King, Emily King, Jericho Danielson, Vanessa Danielson, and Jordan Danielson; brother, Don (Marilyn) Johnson of Logan; sisters-in-law, Lisa (Jerry) Thomas of Logan and Stephanie (Charlie Miller) Riggs of Logan; and mother-in-law, Ellen Riggs.

James was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Nancy Williams and Connie McMunn; brothers, Jerry Johnson and Tim Johnson; and father-in-law, Marion Riggs. 

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at the Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St, Logan, with Pastor Rodney Rogers officiating. Family and friends may visit from 1 to 2 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in Oak Grove Cemetery, Logan.
