Jean Smith

Jean Smith, 89, of Nelsonville, passed away Sunday, May 27, 2018 at her residence.  She was born July 28, 1928, in Nelsonville, daughter of the late Leona Lehman (Ray) Warehime and the late Lauren “Red” Warner.  She was the widow of the late Harold E. Smith, who passed away March 27, 2013.

She retired from Nelsonville-York City Schools where she was secretary to the principal and clerk to the superintendent, after 42 ½ years of service. Jean was a member of the Nelsonville Wesleyan Church and the Nelsonville VFW Ladies Auxillary.

She is survived by two sons, Tim and Paula Smith of Cincinnati and Greg Smith of Zanesville; granddaughter, Megahnn and Shane Mash of Nelsonville; grandson, Jamie Smith; great grandchildren, Lexi Hiles, Hannah Hiles,  Charlie Mash, Issac McWilliams, Stephan Smith, Cera Smith and Bryana (James) Vannoy; three great-great grandchildren and a sister, Josephine Jones of Logan.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, June 1, 2018 at the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville with Rev Mike Thomas officiating.  Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville.   Friends may call Thursday from 5-8 PM at the funeral home.
