Jerry W. Engle

Jerry W. Engle, 75, of New Plymouth, passed away Thursday, January 16, 2020 while tending to his cattle.  He was born March 1, 1944 in Logan, Ohio, son of the late Herman W. and Bernice Mercer Engle.  Jerry was married for 43 years to the late Janet Rafferty Engle.

He was the owner and operator of Jerry Engle Logging Inc. and J&J Wood Inc.  One of Jerry’s greatest passions in life was his farm and he was an avid sponsor of the Vinton County 4-H program and the Zaleski youth sports program.  He was also a Brown Township Trustee for 28 years.

Jerry is survived by his daughters, Sheila (Terry) Howdyshell of New Plymouth, Cheryl (Nick) Robson of New Plymouth and Tracey (Mark) Manning of Jackson; grandchildren, Stacy (Shad) McFarland, Troy (Kelsey) Howdyshell, Jeremy (Shelley) Robson, Justin Robson, Kendra Gambill and Clay Manning; great grandchildren, Bradyn and Taryn Parker, Cooper Gambill, Weston Robson and Trevor Howdyshell; brother, Gene (Garnet) Engle of McArthur; sister, Rosemary Harbarger of Logan; loving partner, Sabrina Scholten of New Plymouth; several nieces and nephews; lifetime friend, Jerry Mauler and friend Bob Carpenter.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Gary Engle, Donnie McDowell and Betty McCann.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Tuesday, January 21, 2020 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Rev. Dr. Randy Hardman officiating.  Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, from 4-8 and on Tuesday, one hour prior to the services.
