Joanne "Jody" Taborn

Joanne “Jody” Taborn, 83, of Hamden, passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at her home.  She was born October 8, 1940, to the late Russel and Bernice Brown Barnett.

Jody was a very loving and kind person.  She loved to paint, sew and read her bible.  Jody also loved her family and was very much the caretaker of the family who will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her brother, Donny Barnett; grandchildren, Chasidy (Lane) Winkle, Travis Taborn, Todd Taborn and Anna (Casey) Walker; several great grandchildren; one great great grandson and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Jody was preceded in death by her husband, Pat Taborn; sons, Chuck and Rick Taborn; brothers, Gerald, Glen, Guy, Melvin and Ray and sisters, Louise and Waunita.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 12, 2023, in Elk Cemetery, McArthur, with Rev. Jim Taylor officiating.  No visitation will be held.  Arrangements are by Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the National Church Residence Hospice for their amazing care, as well as her nieces, Donnie and Sue Nichols for helping in her time of need.
