Johnny Newsome, 83, of McArthur, passed away Friday, October 30, 2020, at his residence. He was born December 14, 1936, in Pikeville, Kentucky, son of the late Harvey and Katie Hall Newsome. Johnny was married to the late Christine Coleman Newsome.
He was a retired auto technician and a member of Maggie Home Church in Dundas.
Johnny is survived by his sons, Johnny Michael (Delana) Newsome of McArthur, Garry Lee (Debbie) Newsome of Cardington, Ohio, Jesse Allen (Kathryn) Newsome of Ellijay, Georgia and Donald Ray (Nanette) Newsome of North Port, Florida; daughters, Deborah Lynn (Steve) Harper of Edison, Ohio and Loretta Kay (Mike) Castor of Keystone Heights, Florida; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers, Junior (Lois) Newsome of Cardington, Ohio, Dave (Brenda) Newsome of Virgie, Kentucky and Frank (Geraldine) Newsome of Haysi, Virginia; sisters, Lorene (Gary) Young of Pikeville, Kentucky, Daphine Akers of Robinson Creek, Kentucky, Ruth (Danny) Fuller of Haysi, Virginia and Ruby Ousley of Pikeville, Kentucky and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, He was preceded in death by his brothers, Russell and Clancy Newsome.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Tuesday, November 3, 2020, at Maggie Home Church in Dundas, with Elder Greg Sowers, Elder Johnny Thornsberry, Elder Harrison Runyon and Elder Don Mullins officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, McArthur. Friends may call at the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, on Monday, from 6-8 p.m. and on Tuesday, at Maggie Home Church, from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
