Joseph E. Nicholson

Joseph E. Nicholson, 83, of The Plains, passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at Doctors Hospital, Columbus. Joseph was born January 7, 1940, in Nelsonville, the son of the late Joseph G. and Helen (Skivers) Nicholson.

Joseph was a graduate of Chauncey High School. He retired as a carpenter after over 28 years with KCI Construction and the Carpenters Local 437, Portsmouth.  He was a member of the Athens Elk Lodge 973 and the Chauncey AMVETS Post 53.

Joseph is survived by his daughters, Tammy (Chris) Kyle of Martinez, California and Merissa (Joseph Smith) Nicholson of The Plains; grandchildren, Kenneth Kyle, Christopher Kyle, and Mackenzie Smith; brother, Danny (Becky) Nicholson of Lithopolis; and longtime companion, Carolyn Snyder.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents; son, Joey Nicholson; and sister, Janet Riley.

Arrangements are by the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville. Private burial, at a later date, in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville.
