Kathryn "Krazy Katie" Yvonne Matteson

Kathryn “Krazy Katie” Yvonne Matteson, 82, of Hamden, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at Edgewood Manor Nursing Home in Wellston.  She was born May 1, 1940, in Radcliff, Ohio, daughter of the late Jerry Glendon and Eva Belle Pierce Perry.

She owned and operated the Hotel McArthur Inc. since 1994 and Krazy Katies since 1990.  Katie was a lifetime member and past president of the McArthur VFW Post #5299 Auxiliary.  She traveled as a military wife for 21 years and during that time she sold AVON, cleaned quarters, and raised her children.  She also worked for Jenos from 1980 to 1985.  Katie enjoyed her flowers, cooking, and baking

She is survived by her daughters, Gail Anne Matteson, Tamara Kaye Matteson and Glenevea Rebecca (Tom) Reed; grandchildren, Keith Patrick (Stephanie) Matteson who she raised as her own son, Christopher Glendon Matteson, Kyle William (Patricia) Matteson, John Wayne (Tristin) Nelson, Katie Marie (Robert) Blackstock, Isabella Grace Reed and Paisley Madison Reed; several great grandchildren; sisters, Connie Waters, Judith Kirkendall and Sharon (Donald) Cox; lifelong companion and father of her children, Robert Wayne Matteson; special friend, Elizabeth Gilliland and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Katie was preceded in death by her son, Randall Wayne Matteson; great-grandson, Dalton George Blackstock; brothers, Jerry William Perry and Lewis Lamar Walters; brother-in-law, Roy Kirkendall; and great grandmother, Emma (Lowe) Pierce.

Funeral services will be held 12 p.m., Wednesday, June 22, 2022, in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur with Jesse Reynolds officiating.  Interment will be in Hamden Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 6 to 8 p.m. and 1 hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
