Kathryn Jean Scherbarth

Kathryn Jean Scherbarth, 101, of Toledo, passed away on Monday, January 1, 2024, at Hickory Creek of Athens. Kathryn was born September 12, 1922, in Toledo, Ohio, the daughter of the late Huber L. and Maude (Matzinger) Henley. She married the late Dr. R. E. Scherbarth on December 24, 1941, and they were married for 62 years until he passed in 2003.

Kathryn was vital in helping her husband grow his medical practice and the internship program at Flower Hospital in Toledo. One of her greatest joys was giving back to the Toledo community. She was a long-time member of the Flower Hospital Auxiliary and took pride in serving at each of the officer positions over the years.  She was involved with the Girl Scouts and she volunteered with Mobile Meals of Toledo, well in to her 80’s. Kathryn will be loved and missed.

Kathryn is survived by her daughter, Karen S. (Dave Huge) Scherbarth of Millfield; grandchildren, Derek (Megan) Scherbarth, Valerie Babics, and Sarah (Don) Roy; great grandchildren, Amelia, Grayson, Carson, Ariella, and Aaliyah; and sister-in-law, Kay Henley.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Kathy L. Scherbarth; son, Richard L. Scherbarth; brother, Huber “Skip” Henley; and sister, Joyce (Robert) Lowery.

It was Kathryn’s wish to be cremated, and no services will be observed at this time.  Arrangements are by Souers Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville.

The family suggests donations in memory of Kathryn be made to your favorite Hospice of choice.
