L. Jean Mcghee

L. Jean McGhee, 94, of Thornville, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2018 at the Pickering House in Lancaster. She was born April 26, 1924 in Jackson, Ohio, daughter of the late Edwin W. and Evelyn Brown Nelson. Jean was the widow of the late Maurice L. McGhee Sr.

She was a member of Northwest Christian Church in Upper Arlington.  Jean was excellent at calligraphy, crocheting and making baby doll clothes for her grandchildren.

She is survived by her sons, Maurice “Mike” (Barb) McGhee Jr. of Logan and Will (Susan) McGhee of Thornville; seven grandchildren, Krista, Erin, Andrew, Erica, Jared, Michelle and Jaimee; fourteen great grandchildren; brother, Richard (Elaine) Nelson of Xenia and sister-in-law, Luetta Jenkins of Beverly, Ohio.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Patsy Wolff.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Tuesday, November 27, 2018 in the Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan, with Chaplin April Thomas officiating.  Interment will be in Fairmount Cemetery in Jackson at 2 p.m. on Tuesday.  Friends may call at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of L. Jean McGhee to the Pickering House, 282 Sells Rd., Lancaster, Ohio 43130.
