Laura May Arnett

Laura May Arnett, 79, of Logan, passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2023, at the Pickering House, Lancaster. She was born August 8, 1944, in Columbus, Ohio, the daughter of the late Lafe Junior and Betty Ruth (Moore) Barnett.

Laura was a member of Advent Christian Church of Rockbridge. She was very active at the Embassy of Logan where she resided.  She was voted by other residents and staff as prom queen and many just called her “Queenie”. Laura is survived by her children, Ronald L. Cooper of Caldwell, Melanie (Richard) Hacker of Rockbridge, and Angela (Robert) Benham of Logan; daughter-in-law, Brenda Cooper of Logan; grandchildren, Megan (Jacob) Vorhees, Christian (Josie) Hacker, Brady (Gabriela) Hacker, Adrienne Hacker, Jozee (Lucas) Cox, Aaron (Caitlin Perkins) Cooper, and Kaitlynn (Steven Malenfant) McGrath; great grandchildren, Rilee, Darrin, Karlee, Carter, Amayah, Lauren, Parker, Magnolia, Ivy, and Jaxx; sisters, Patricia (Terry) Spangler of Logan and Edna (Charles) Gordon of Logan; and brothers, Lafe R. “Rick” (Dee) Barnett of McConnelsville and Darren Barnett of Rockbridge.

Laura was preceded in death by her parents; son, Richard E. Cooper Jr. who passed away October 8, 2022; brother, Robert Barnett; and sister, Ruby Newman.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, January 8, 2024, at the Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan, with Pastor Diora Edgell officiating. Interment will be in Laural Cemetery, Hocking County. Family and friends may visit from 2 to 5 pm Sunday at the funeral home.

Family would also like to thank Grant Medical Center, especially their ICU Unit and the staff at the Pickering House for the exceptional care they gave Laura.
