Lena Mae Collier, 81, of Jackson, passed away Monday, March 18, 2024, at Four Winds Nursing Facility in Jackson. She was born May 12, 1942, in Lovely, Kentucky, daughter of the late Bascom and Sallie Music Copley. Lena was married for 48 years to the late Rev. Thomas H. Collier.
She was proud to be the wife of a former Nazarene minister, taking that role very seriously, along with being the caretaker of her husband and mother-in-law, in their time of need. Lena was a member of the Jackson First Church of the Nazarene and the McArthur VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
Lena is survived by her daughter, Georgetta (Edward) von Dolln of Columbus; grandchildren, John Thomas (Grace) Vance of Circleville and Amy and Anna von Dolln of Columbus; great grandchild, Lincoln Michael Joseph Wood; brother, Gene Copley of Hilton Head, South Carolina; sister, Phyllis (Dick) Tipton of Inez, Kentucky and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Nancy Barlow; brothers, William, Johnny, James, Frank and Chester Copley and sisters, Laura Bell “Sissie” Kazee and Elouise Dials.
A funeral service will be held on 12 p.m., Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at the McArthur Church of the Nazarene, 523 N. Market St., McArthur, with Pastor Mark Erskine officiating. Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, at the McArthur Church of The Nazarene from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
Arrangements are by Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of Lena Mae Collier to the Jackson First Church of the Nazarene, 251 Powell Dr., Jackson, Ohio 45640.
