Loretta A. Mcguire

Loretta A. McGuire, 74, of The Plains, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at Embassy of Logan.  Loretta was born December 3, 1946, in Athens, Ohio, daughter of the late Sherman Monk and Lettie Mae Keck Phillips.  She was married to Michael G. McGuire, who survives.

Loretta was a member of the Bread of Life Church in Jacksonville.  She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.  She also enjoyed singing and playing guitar.  Along with her husband, she enjoyed ministry for 15 years at Kimes Nursing Home and the SEPTA Center.

In addition to her husband, Loretta is survived by her children, Deana (Scott) Wolf of Logan, Jennifer (Carl) Moore of Doanville, Robert (Summer Giles) Davis of Athens, Misty (Jeff) Lehman of Nelsonville, Mary Ann McGuire of Ohio, and Morticia McGuire of Missouri; many loved grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers, Terry (June) Monk of Nelsonville and Gerry Phillips of The Plains; and sister, Lora (Jeff) Handley of Nelsonville.

In addition to her parents, Loretta was preceded in death by her daughter, Gina Monk.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, September 10, 2021, in the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville, Ohio, with Pastor Ron Fierce officiating and Larry and Karen Swart assisting.  Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville.  Friends may visit at the funeral home on Thursday, September 9, 2021, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in memory of Loretta to the Alzheimer’s Association, 1379 Dublin Rd., Columbus, Ohio 43215.
