Mac L. Bishop, age 86, of Hamden, passed away Sunday, November 28, 2021, at Grant Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Mac was born December 5, 1934, in Vinton County, Ohio to George W. Bishop and Ona M. (Remy) Bishop.
He is survived by his wife Mary Ward Bishop of Chillicothe; daughter Diana Perkins and her husband Brian of Wellston; daughter-in-law Judy Bishop Dodrill of McArthur; stepson Terry Thompson and his family of Chillicothe; grandson Chad Moore and his wife Brandi and their children Taylor, Broc and Jase of McArthur; granddaughter Brooke Sowers and her husband Justin and their children Olivia and Henry of Allensville; grandson Brian Perkins and his wife Katie and their daughter Melody of Jackson; granddaughter Lauren McCune and her husband Michael and their daughter Zoa of Logan; sister-in-law Carol Beabout Sprague of Hamden; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Mac was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy R. Beabout Bishop and his son Dennis E. Bishop, brothers Charles Bishop and Dale Bishop, and sister Betty Roberts and infant sister Carol Bishop.
Mac graduated from the Hamden High School with the class of 1952. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, joining shortly after graduation at the age of 17, and served during the Korean War. Mac was a jack of all trades, if you could break it he could fix it. He enjoyed working with wood and growing flowers & plants. But most of all, he enjoyed spoiling his Grandkids & Great Grandkids. They were definitely the light of his life. Mac retired from McNally Pittsburg manufacturing corporation, working there from 1957 until they closed the Wellston plant. He continued as a consultant for another few years for the Pittsburg plant until his retirement in 1990.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Friday, December 3, 2021, in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Pastor Ron Baxter officiating. Interment will be in Hamden Cemetery, Hamden. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
