Marie Alice Keplar, 102, of Logan, passed away Friday, April 28, 2017 at Fairfield Medical Center in Lancaster. She was born November 16, 1914 in Carbon Hill, Ohio, daughter of the late Don and Alice Smith Dawley. Marie was the widow of the late Arthur Hamilton Keplar.
She was a former beautician, a member of Kine Memorial Church and as a child she attended Carbon Hill Christian Church. Marie was a 50 plus year member of the Venus Chapter #76 OES and was a member of Twig 1 at Hocking Valley Community Hospital. In high school she loved playing basketball and was an avid Ohio State sports fan and loved all sports.
Marie is survived by her son, Don (Sharon) Keplar of Logan; daughter, Jolene (Dick) Harden of Logan; grandchildren, Joelle (Roger) Giffin of Logan and Jennifer (Craig) Phillips of Sunbury; great grandchildren, C.J. (Amber Jenkins) Davis, Kim (Kyle) Travis, Mitchell (Christi) Harden, Lindsey Harden, Kristen Harden, Deven Harden and Hannah Phillips and a nephew, Jim Dawley of Carbon Hill.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Harold “Shorty” Gastin; grandson, Rich W. Harden and brothers, Ed, Russ and Art Dawley.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 3, 2017 in Carbon Hill Cemetery, Carbon Hill with Pastor Linda Ward officiating. No visitation will be held.
Arrangements are by Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan.
