Mary Evelyn Embree of Sun City Center, Fla, formerly of Logan, Ohio, passed away Thursday, February 13, 2025. She was born, May 10, 1940, in Columbus, Ohio, daughter of the late Francis and Mary Howdyshell Embree.
Mary, lovingly known to many as Mimi, is survived by many much-loved cousins and close friends. She was a graduate of Ohio University, and also a beloved teacher for many years in school systems in both Ohio and Florida. Mimi was a long-term member of Venus Chapter #76, Order of the Eastern Star. She was a faithful Methodist and served the church throughout her life. Mimi also studied abroad during several summers of her teaching career at Oxford University in Great Britain. She loved traveling and studying genealogy. Mimi was a wonderful storyteller and often entertained her guests with her quick wit.
Services will be held on Saturday, March 1 at 1:00 PM at Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St, Logan, Ohio, with Richard Mayer officiating. Interment will be at New Fairview Cemetery, Rockbridge. Family and friends may visit from 11 to 1 on Saturday, March 1 prior to the start of services.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in Mimi’s honor to the American Cancer Society.
