Mary Helen Guess

Mary H. Guess, 88, of Nelsonville, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2017 at Hickory Creek of Athens.  She was born April 27, 1929, in Athens, daughter of the late Harvey and Anita Edmondson Brammer. She was the widow of the late Robert M. Guess.

Mary retired from the former Brooks Shoe Company and was a receptionist for Dr. Brown and then Dr. LeGraff.  She was a member of the Nelsonville VFW Auxiliary and formerly State Secretary of the VFW Auxiliary.

She is survived by sons, Michael and Kay Guess of Perrysburg and Jimmy Guess of Nelsonville; grandchildren, Frances, Ben, Tommy, Jamie and Robert; seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews including special niece, Renee Williams.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by 16 brothers and sisters.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, June 15, 2017 at the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville with Rev. Ernie Perkins officiating.  Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville. Friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home where a service will be conducted by the VFW Ladies Auxiliary at 7:30 PM.
