Merline Maynard

Merline Maynard, age 78, of McArthur, Ohio, passed suddenly on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at Fairfield Medical Center, due to cardiac failure after suffering with repeated respiratory issues.

The consolation for those that loved her is that she and her beloved husband of almost 42 years, Glen, are together now. They traveled America attending festivals and selling his wood carvings, which she painted. They also competed in woodcarving events until 2013. Some of their creations still grace many Christmas trees, including the trees of the Ohio Governor. They also created many other types of wood carvings and walking sticks cherished by many worldwide. She was talented at many endeavors including handwoven baskets, knitting scarves and hats, and making phenomenal desserts. However, nothing compares to her paintings. Those that knew her can attest to how proud she was most of all of her daughter, grandson and great-granddaughter.

Merline leaves behind her daughter, Rhonda Ward-Maynard, 56 years old of Clearwater, Florida; grandson, Anthony Nathaniel Cline, 35 years old of Plant City, Florida (wife Kaylen); great-granddaughter, Sofie Lynn, age 13; and sister, Christine Maynard of Inez, Kentucky; along with many nieces, nephews and valued friends.

Merline was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Glen Maynard; brothers, Nathan Jay Maynard, Leonard Maynard and Elmer Maynard; sister, Betty Maynard; parents, Nathan Maynard and Viola Maynard; brothers-in-law, Homer Maynard, Elza Lee Maynard and Estel Maynard; sisters-in-law, Eloise Mayard Parsley and Jean Maynard Smith; and in-laws, Bill Maynard and Opal Buckley Maynard.

Cremation arrangements are through the Garret Cardaras Funeral Home in McArthur. A service is not scheduled at this time. Friends and family will be notified of A Celebration of Life which will be held at a later date.
