Norman H. Powell, age 89 of McArthur, Ohio, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Saturday, June 25, 2022 following a period of declining health. He passed into the arms of his loving Savior while at home surrounded by his loving wife and family.
Born January 1, 1933 in Coalton, OH, Norman was the son of the late Jack and Clara Partlow Powell. He attended Coalton High School and went on to work for Jisco Furnace for many years. He later became part owner of Powell and Sons Builders constructing homes in the McArthur area. Norman and his wife later owned and operated the Upholstery Shop in McArthur for several years before retiring.
Norman was a faithful member of Puritan Freewill Baptist Church in Hamden where he served on the advisory board and as a trustee.
Norman enjoyed camping, fishing, and wood working. One of Norman’s favorite pastimes was his many yearly trips he and Carrie, along with other family members, took to Canada. While there he became quite the expert camper and fisherman. He also enjoyed taking along his grandchildren to share in his camping adventures, both to Canada and to Pine Lake. Many great stories have been shared around the table recalling these special times.
Norman also had the ability to fix just about anything. He was often called upon to help a family member fix something or provide the know how in showing them how to fix it. He even built his own house in McArthur.
Norman married Carrie Holtz Leach on May 18, 1974 and they celebrated 48 years of marriage this year. As for the many who know Norman and Carrie, you would rarely see one without the other.
