Polly Elizabeth Pierce, 90, of McArthur, passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at Four Winds Nursing Home in Jackson. She was born March 8, 1931, in Millard, Kentucky, daughter of the late John D. and Hettie M. Coleman Worrix. Polly was the widow of the late Hiram D. Pierce.
She has been a member of the McArthur Church of The Nazarene since 1983 where she was the former local Missionary President and was also a former teacher’s aide for Vinton County Schools. Polly enjoyed spending time with her family and was passionate about the Lord.
She is survived by her son, Ralph (Maria) Pierce of McArthur; daughter, Marjorie “Margie” Bosdell of Ashville; twenty grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; brothers, Harold Edward Worrix and Lonnie Worrix, both of Columbus; sisters, Laura Alice Richardson of Columbus, Leah Ewald of Columbus, Loretta Bradley of West Virginia and Evelyn Worrix of Hilliard and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Polly was preceded in death by her three sons, Hiram Roger Pierce, Matthew Wayne Pierce and Daniel Curtis Pierce; one grandchild; one great grandchild; one infant sister; brothers, John, William, Bradley, Arthur and Bobby Worrix and sisters, Lola Barney and Thursie Bates.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at the McArthur Church of The Nazarene, 523 N. Market St., McArthur, with Pastor William Roth officiating. Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur. Friends may call at the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, on Monday, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday, one hour prior to the service at the McArthur Church of The Nazarene.
