Richard Lee Cochran passed away peacefully embraced in the arms of his loving wife and daughter on Saturday, September 30, 2023.
He was born in Detroit, Michigan on July 26, 1944, to the late Fred and Marie Cochran. He grew up in New Straitsville, Ohio where he graduated high school and then enlisted in the United States Navy from 1963-1967. He was a proud veteran with stories to tell and had immense pride in his county. He retired from Keynes Bros. in Logan, Ohio after over thirty years of driving.
Richard was a fierce family man. He cherished his wife Susie of 50 years. He adored his daughter Lisa and the son of his heart, Jason (husband to Lisa) and would let each of us know every day. He was a doting and proud ‘Papa’ to Jackson. The bond he and his grandson shared was unparalleled and could be seen by all who knew them. He was a wonderful friend to those who had the honor of knowing him. He was the kind of man who would always be the first there to help and the last there helping to clean up. He would give you the shirt off his back even if it meant he would be cold. He was a loving uncle and great uncle to many.
He can be best described as a giant teddy bear. His big booming voice and large six-foot five build could easily be dismissed by looking into his big sky-blue eyes that were gentle and always full of love. His big hugs, joyful laughter, and loving nature will be missed by all who knew him.
Richard was preceded in death by his father Fred Cochran, his mother Marie (Cochran) Huston, his sister Patricia Barton, his brother-in-law Bud Barton, his daughter Rebecca, his stepfather Darl Huston, and his father in laws Gene Goss and Arthur Tschudy. He is survived by his wife Susan Cochran, his daughter Lisa Mentzer, son in law Jason Mentzer, and his grandson Jackson Mentzer; His mother-in-law Mary Ann Goss; Many brothers and sisters in laws: Sharon and Randy Raymer, Gib and Tammy Tschudy, Becky Dunfee, and Kathy Appleman; and many nieces and nephews.
