Robert "Bob" Eugene Ritz

Robert “Bob” Eugene Ritz, 77, of Buchtel, passed away Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Highland Oaks Health Center in McConnelsville. Bob was born on October 28, 1947, in Nelsonville, the son of the late Alva and Violet (Finn) Ritz. Bob was the beloved husband of Julia “Judy” (Mitchell) Ritz, who survives.

Bob loved golf, traveling all over to play different courses. He enjoyed playing poker on the weekends. Bob’s happy place was the beach, and he liked to spend time by the ocean. Bob served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and received a Purple Heart, among other awards. He will be remembered as an adoring husband and an incredible dad and grandfather.

Bob is survived by his wife, Judy; daughter, Debra Ritz; son, Robert “Andy” (Dawnette Welch) Ritz; granddaughter, Anna Backus, who was his pride and joy; brother, Richard “Dick” Ritz; niece, Pam Duncan; and nephew, Allen Armbruster.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Nancy Ritz.

Honoring Bob’s wishes, cremation will take place. Burial will be at a later date in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in memory of Bob to the American Cancer Society, American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
