Robert L. Bowlby

Robert L. Bowlby, 92, of Logan, passed away Saturday, March 6, 2021, at the Pickering House in Lancaster.  He was born November 27, 1928, in Logan, Ohio, son of the late Charles E. and Thelma “Bess” Hood Bowlby.  Robert was married to the late Doris J. Farley Bowlby.

He retired from Sanese Services in Columbus, formerly delivered milk for McClellan Dairy and was a United States Army Veteran during the Korean War Era.  Robert was a member of Hocking Hills United Methodist Church, was a former member of the Logan Moose and Logan Eagles.  Along with his wife Doris, Robert was an avid square dancer who was in the group the Swinging 2X4’s.  He enjoyed traveling and water skiing and was a devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather who will be missed.

Robert is survived by his son, Bob (Sue) Bowlby of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan; daughter, Bonnie (Jack) Charles of Logan; seven grandchildren, Jerry (Ann) Dowler Jr., Mark Dowler, Matthew (Brianne) Dowler, Misty Dowler, Nathan (Nate) Bowlby, Ashton (Joe Massey) Bowlby and Jeremy (Brooke) Bowlby; eight great-grandchildren, Hannah, Owen, Olivia, Benjamin, Levi and Joseph Dowler and John Wayne and Madeline Massey; brothers, Carol (Mary Jane) Bowlby, Earl Bowlby and Wayne (Anita) Bowlby, all of Logan and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Mundy and two infant brothers.

Private funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 9, 2021, in the Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan, with Rev. Rodney Rogers officiating.  Interment will be in New Fairview Memorial Gardens, Rockbridge with military graveside services being conducted by the Hocking County Honor Guard.
